Total Time: 7 hours 15 minutes
Servings: 10 people

Ingredients

RUB:

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ¾ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

OVEN VERSION:

  • Add brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, and pepper into a small bowl and combine. Rub mixture all over 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef brisket. If time allows, place beef brisket in the fridge to marinate for 30 minutes - 24 hours.
  • Place your BBQ sauce in a roasting pan, add 2 cups of water, and mix until well combined. Add your beef brisket and cover it with a lid of a double layer of foil.
  • Bake, covered, at 260 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-7 hours (about 1 ½ hours per lb.), then uncover for 30 minutes until it's tender enough to pull apart with a fork. You'll want to baste the beef brisket every hour with the juices from the pan. Check occasionally to ensure the liquid doesn't reduce past a BBQ Sauce consistency (add water if it does).
  • Once desired tenderness is reached, remove the brisket from the oven.
  • Pour liquid from the roasting pan into a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Once simmering, reduce heat until your sauce reaches a syrup-like consistency. Remember, it thickens as it cools.
  • Place your beef brisket back in the roasting pan, drizzle with olive oil, and roast at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until brown spots appear. Remove from oven, baste generously with the thickened BBQ sauce (save most for serving), and return to oven for another 5 minutes. Remove and baste again, then return to the oven for 5-10 minutes until it caramelizes to the desired texture.
  • Lastly, slice your 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef brisket thinly across the grain and serve with the remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Serve with your favorite sides or pile high onto buns with coleslaw for easy weeknight sliders! ENJOY!

SLOW COOKER VERSION:

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and combine. Rub mixture all over 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef brisket. If time allows, place beef brisket in the fridge to marinate for 30 minutes - 24 hours.
  • Place your BBQ sauce in a slow cooker, add your beef brisket, and squish it if needed.
  • Slow cook on low for 10 hours.
  • Once desired tenderness is reached, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and place it on a tray.
  • Pour liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Once simmering, reduce heat until your sauce reaches a syrup-like consistency. Remember, it thickens as it cools.
  • Put your beef brisket on a roasting tray, drizzle with olive oil, and roast in the oven at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until brown spots start to appear. Remove from oven, baste generously with the thickened BBQ sauce (save most for serving), and return to oven for another 5 minutes. Revmoe and baste again, then return to the oven for 5-10 minutes until it caramelizes to the desired texture.
  • Lastly, slice your 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef brisket thinly across the grain and serve with the remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Serve with your favorite sides or pile high onto rolls with coleslaw for easy weeknight sliders! ENJOY!

Notes

  • Cook Time: Don't stress too much! Brisket is a cut of beef together well, even if it's cooked to the point of being able to shred. If you pull your brisket out and it's touch and chewy, don't worry, keep cooking it!
  • Slow Cooker on High: In a pinch? Use the same recipe and cook your 4 lb brisket on high for 5 hours or a 5 lb brisket on high for 5 hours and 30 minutes. Follow the same directions for tender beef brisket.
  • Pressure Cooker: Follow the Slow Cooker steps above. For cooking time, you'll pressure cook a 4 lb beef brisket for 1 hour and 30 minutes or 1 hour and 45 minutes for a 5 lb beef brisket. Follow the same directions. If you use an Instant Pot as your pressure cooker, add 1 cup of water to avoid getting the burn notice. Once desired tenderness is reached, use a natural release or wait 15 minutes and then use the quick release.
